RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and Rich Site Summary. It is a template for XML to organize content universally so services can collect it from all over the web.
RSS allows you to see new content as it is published without ever having to revisit that web-site. It removes the need of bookmarking a site and rechecking it on some sort of regular basis, saving you loading times with potential no gain.
You need a feed reader, which comes in a variety of shapes and size. There are some desktop forms, like NewsGator , and web-based ones, such as Firefox Live Bookmarks . I recommend Google Reader , because it's simply awesome.
After setting up a Feed Reader of sorts, go to your favorite web-sites that you check often and subscribe by RSS. Now, with your trusty feed reader open, you'll receive updates from all the sites you want in one location, and only when they happen.
Go ahead, give it a go! Grab Google Reader , and my feed , and stay up to date!
