Blogging is in My Future
It’s looking like an exciting future for myself. I’ve thought of a new brand to disguise myself with. Logo is currently being drawn. And then I’ll design the new site and move myself over that-a-way.
In the meantime, I’ve committed myself to being more active on my own blog. I’ll be re-desiging a few features that just do not flow together. Also, I’m aiming for weekly posts at the longest; if I can write faster than that, then sweet!
I have a couple friends that I’m going to be explaining web development to, and so I got to thinking: How do I explain what I do to someone who hasn’t seen HTML before? Granted, both these people have the fundamental quality for programming: a passion for logical procedures.
So basically, I’ve decided to write a (it might become more) 3-part series of how to get started with front-end and back-end development:
- HTML + CSS: Structure & Design
- Making PHP Object-Oriented with CodeIgniter
- How to Handle the DOM with Mootools (which will involve the newest Mootools release)
The names are subject to change, but the topics are there.
Besides this Getting Started series, I’ve got several other topics outlined and just need writing, and they include:
- Float & Position
- Drop Down Menus
- Logo as an IMG
- Margin vs Padding (The Box Model)
- XML Basics
- XML-RPC with PHP
Lastly, I’ve also got planned a tutorial for NETTUTS, as well as an article for FreelanceSwitch, assuming I actually sit down and write for them.
I plan to make my blog about web development, focusing on CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. I’ll be posting techniques, tips, references, examples, and tutorials with the aim of teaching good practice and logical thinking as opposed to super specific, fictional events that no-one can use.
If you ever have a suggestion regarding web development, comment about it. I’d even consider some other topics if need be, like perhaps ActionScript 3.0, or even Ruby (I will?), if the requests are there.
